History

The following women are the first Latinas to appear on American television. From the 1920's to the 1940's these were the women who were portraying what it meant to be Latina:

Carmen Miranda

Nicknamed the Brazilian Bombshell and The Chiquita Banana Girl.

By 1945, she was the highest paid woman in the United States.

Dolores del Rio

Considered oned of the most beautiful actresses of her time.

Was the first Latin American movie star to have international success.

Lupe Velez

Nicknamed The Mexican Spitfire and The Hot Pepper
